Huskies Hockey Club - Our Club - The Huskies Experience

The Huskies Experience

While we all focus most of our attention on what happens on the ice, we know that being a member of the Huskies Hockey Club offers much more than just the game itself. Hockey helps kids learn important life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, camaraderie, how to win and lose gracefully, and how to push themselves to achieve beyond their wildest dreams. We are passionate about this game and are committed to helping every kid who walks through our doors love it as much as we do.

More Hockey. Less Crazy.

It is easy to get lost in the "crazy" of competitive youth travel sports. The Huskies work hard to maintain the right balance of challenging players to be their best while ensuring the experience remains positive and enjoyable. We believe that hockey is the best sport (because it is), but we also encourage kids to participate in multiple sports. This is not only good for them physically but also mentally. Our philosophy has always been to provide a range of youth programs that cater to every level of hockey skill and interest, with the goal of keeping kids playing for as long as they wish.

What makes for a great hockey experience?

  • culture

    Culture

Positivity breeds positivity. We strive to create a supportive culture through strong leadership and open communication, enabling kids and families to make great memories. Our board members and hockey director are always available to address any concerns and ensure the best experience possible.

  • coaching

    Coaching

Good coaching is the most important element of a successful hockey season. Coaches are not judged by wins and loses, but rather by how they help kids become the best versions of themselves. Coaches that are organized, communicate well with their players individually and as a team, and are passionate about teaching will always make for a positive experience.

  • community

    Community

Every team, every player, and every family is an important part of our club. From conversations in the lobby during practice to team dinners on road trips, the time we spend with each other is what makes our community so special. Supporting one another makes for an experience where everyone looks forward to coming to the rink.

  • communication

    Communication

Knowing where and when to be at the rink with enough advanced warning to plan the rest of your life makes for a better experience. We support our team managers to ensure their season runs smoothly and we frequently send updates via email and social media to keep everyone in the loop.

Consistent Ice Times

Our longstanding relationship with Canlan provides us with prime timeslots throughout the season, so your schedule doesn't get too crazy. Consistent practice times each week and home game slots on the weekend make planning your family calendar easier. Team practices occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week and will almost always be at the same time and on the same sheet of ice. Goalie clinic will also always be on Monday nights at the same time and on the same rink. It is rare, but some practices may get shuffled around if a team needs the ice for a weeknight game, but we will always provide advanced warning so you can plan accordingly.

THE HUSKIES culture

“Seeing the way these kids and parents support each other and all the Huskies teams is incredible. The growth in my son both on and off the ice is why we continue to love this club!”
